Quality education for all
We believe that all children should be given the chance to reach their full potential. However, more than 600 million children in the world do not achieve foundational skills like literacy and basic numeracy – despite the majority of them going to school.
At EIDU, we are creating the next-generation ed-tech platform for children who lack access to the high-quality education that all children deserve. We currently serve over 350,000 active students in Kenya, and we look forward to serving up to 30 million students by 2030. External researchers conducted a year-long randomised control trial, midline results indicate that having EIDU in schools adds the equivalent of at least 0.8 years of learning development. We also have fascinating projects with leading technology companies to further enhance learning outcomes through AI.
EIDU is funded by well-known development agencies, foundations, and impact investors and we are about to scale our programs rapidly through partnerships with governments.
With a mission like EIDU’s, diversity of thought and background within our team is crucial. We value those who can bring a diverse perspective to our platform and help us provide high-quality education to as many children as we can across the globe.
About the Role
We are looking for a Proposal and Grant Manager to form an integral part of the Partnerships team. The role includes writing grant applications and reports, supporting internal processes and managing our CRM. As the Proposal and Grant Manager, you will leverage your grant writing and reporting experience from established organisations, either funders or large-scale grant recipients (such as international NGOs) to support the team. You will be responsible for driving your own projects and gathering input across the organization, and will be able to develop professionally as part of an experienced and highly motivated team.
What you will do
- Lead new grant applications, and coordinate the overall proposal writing process, whilst utilizing input from our Government, Operations, Finance and other teams
- Create high quality reports for our current partners, including progress on project implementation, success field stories, and updates on agreed KPIs.
- Support the Partnerships team with management of internal CRM and general process management.
- Conduct research to identify prospective donors including bilateral/multilateral donors, foundations, individuals, and others.
- Arrange and host field visits for donors and other partners across Kenya, being able to act as EIDU’s representative and answer their program questions (on an as-needed basis).
What you should bring
- At least 2+ years of direct experience in fundraising (required), ideally more.
- Excellent communication and writing skills in English (required).
- Familiarity with numbers, budgets and spreadsheets (Excel) (required).
- Experience in the education sector and familiarity with key concepts and players in this space (required).
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with people at all levels of the organisation and from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Ability to work in a start-up environment navigating complex and fast-changing circumstances.
- Highly organised person with strong attention to detail and process management skills.
- Ability to work reliably and strive for end-to-end project ownership.
- The desire to use your skills to bring about positive social change for underprivileged children.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, NGO Management, International Relations or Communications) is an advantage.
What we offer
- An international and passionate team located in Kenya and Germany, who support and help each other grow to achieve the great goal we set out for.
- A financial runway that ensures you have the security and resources you need to excel in your role.
- A modern company culture that emphasises transparency and freedom. We care about results, and believe people work best when given the freedom to structure their work themselves, so there is a high degree of flexibility with regard to working hours and vacations, and the option to work in a hybrid manner.
- An open environment where feedback is welcomed, promoting mutual growth and transparency.
- Exciting field visits to our partner schools to see your impact firsthand and meet our teachers and learners
- A multicultural work setting.
- Social impact like no one else: we are working to fix one of the world’s biggest problems.
